Chanel Rouge Coco Shine 63 Rebelle

Happy 4th of July to all my American readers! Today I’m celebrating in style with Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Rebelle ($32.00).

Rebelle is a warm reddish coral that works as a ‘casual red’ on my fair skin. Polarbelle featured Rebelle in her guest review a few months ago, and on her more tan skin it registers as a pinky coral.

I’m back with lip swatches!

Several of you expressed interest in seeing lip swatches of the Lux Lipglosses I reviewed yesterday, so here they are! I hope they’re helpful :)

True You Cosmetics Lux Lip Gloss

In addition to the bubblegum pink lipstick I reviewed last week, True You Cosmetics was also kind enough to send me a sampling of their Lux Lip Glosses ($20 each). I received Josephine (deep grape with red shimmer), Jessica (peachy beige with gold shimmer), and Marilyn (glossy red with no shimmer).

I’m sorry to say that they were hit-and-miss for me. I liked that the glosses packed a lot of pigment, but the texture wasn’t consistent. Marilyn is a rich gloss that applies easily, however Josephine is so thick it doesn’t spread out. I read about similar issues with NARS Nana lip gloss (also a deep grape), so perhaps it’s an issue with the pigment.

Senna Paris Pink and Stunning Lip Syncs

Apart from the obvious shade difference, these two Lip Syncs are very similar to the one I reviewed a few weeks ago. Instead of struggling to find a new way to say the same things, I’ll pull some quotes from the original review.

Senna Lip Syncs ($24) contain a coordinating lipstick and gloss in one convenient package. I think the packaging is a great idea because it eliminates the hassle of finding a lipstick and gloss that match and it allows you to mix and match as desired. It’s like having a palette of options except you don’t have to mess with a brush.

China Glaze Anchors Away Swatches & Comparisons

Most of these shades were pretty unique in color within my own collection – here are some comparisons to help you judge! Note that the shades from this collection have an arrow over them.

What's with the Cattitude?, Sea Spray, Riva, Jade is the New Black, Starboard, Ski Teal We Drop, First Mate, Suzi Says Feng Shui

Sea Spray is probably the most unique shade, and if I had to pick one polish you should definitely buy, Sea Spray would be it. On the left part of my arm Sea Spray is compared to OPI What’s With The Cattitude and Chanel Riva (which as you can see is still sheer with 3 coats).

I thought Starboard would be very similar to OPI Jade is the New Black but I was wrong… Jade is darker and more blue while Starboard is grass green.

First Mate is a deep royal blue that’s much cooler than OPI Ski Teal We Drop or OPI Suzi Says Feng Shui. There’s just a hint of murk that keeps it from being too punchy.

Stila Convertible Colors in Orchid & Poppy

Lately I’m in a blush and nail polish phase… not really sure why but let’s go with it! I’ve been wearing a lot of cream blushes and was really pleased when I arranged a swap for these two Stila Convertible Colors since I’ve never tried this formula before.

Stila Convertible Colors in Poppy and Orchid

Stila promises translucent, glowing color that works on cheeks or lips, and I have to say I agree. The texture is a bit tough to describe – more gel-like than Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge, not as greasy as MAC Cream Colour Base, not as opaque as Illamasqua Cream Blusher. I quite like it because it’s the most moisturizing out of those three and easy to wear on the lips even without gloss or balm.

NYX Snow White Lipstick

Finally, a red for the boldest of gals! A good friend of mine wears this shade to work on her “don’t mess with me” days and I can see why.

NYX Round Lipsticks are ridiculously good value for money. Downside is you’ll have to order online because Ulta only stocks a limited number of shades. The formula is rich and creamy, and it leaves a good stain behind when it finally wears off. Snow White has some sort of vague synthetic fruit scent that is noticeable but doesn’t bother my nose.

MAC Lady Bug Lipstick

Here’s a red for the slightly more brave among you. Still somewhat sheer and glossy, but it packs a punch.

I’d describe Lady Bug as a very true red, neither too warm nor too cool. It smells of lovely vanilla but unfortunately doesn’t last too long on the lips. Perhaps layering over lipliner would help?

MAC Viva Glam Cyndi Lipstick

December is here, and so is the season for crimson lips! This week I’ll be featuring three red lipsticks in a range of textures and colors. Today I’ve got MAC Viva Glam Cyndi, which is a very sheer red and appropriate for the faint of heart. The color could be built up (or worn over a lipliner) for more depth.

This strawberry shade has been described as universally flattering and my very scientific Google Image Search indicates this is true. Even more amazing is the fact that it somehow looks different on everyone. Go on, see for yourself!

Perhaps the most festive part of this lipstick is that 100% of the purchase price goes to the MAC AIDS Fund. It’s only available through February, so definitely grab one soon if you’re interested.
