Expanded shade range for NARS Tinted Moisturizer?

NARS Tinted Moisturizer

Like all good beauty bloggers, I’m never satisfied with my current routine and always wanting to change things up. So, even though I still like the BRTC Jasmine Water BB Cream I’ve been using for a few months, I wanted to try something else, perhaps something with a lighter texture. I poked around my favorite beauty blogs and saw that everyone is raving about NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer, which offers light coverage along with a lot of skincare benefits.

I went to Sephora this weekend to test out colors and there happened to be a NARS rep in my store for the day. We were both disappointed to discover that even the lightest shade, Finland, was too dark for my skin. She tried to get me to buy NARS Sheer Matte in Siberia (a perfect color match), but I wasn’t having any of it. I wanted the product I came for!

I jokingly asked if she would tell NARS they should make a lighter shade and she replied that NARS was already planning to expand the Tinted Moisturizer shade range in both directions, lighter and darker. This is very exciting news for those of us at the ends of the color spectrum! No timeline as of yet (I forgot to ask, oops). I’ll see if I can get in touch with NARS PR to ask and of course update you if/when I find any new info.

For reference, here are the current shades (courtesy of Karla Sugar):

Towel + Hairbrush = Great idea or gimmick?

With the new year fast approaching, I’m getting tons of info about product launches for spring 2012. Here’s one that seems like a great idea, but I’m skeptical of the claims.

Goody Quikstyle Brush

Goody Quikstyle

This brush has regular plastic bristles with little “fingers” of microfiber in between. Supposedly this will help wick moisture from your hair and ensure a smooth blowout. As someone who has a lot of hair (I desperately need a haircut… bad blogger!) this sounds too good to be true.

I would love to get the water out of my hair faster, but I’m not sure how much those little bits of microfiber can actually absorb. And once saturated, wouldn’t they keep re-wetting hair that’s already dry? For $11.99, I’d have to find a heck of a deal to try this one out.

What do you think?

More OPI News! 3 Additional Shades for Shatter Line

Hot on the heels of other brands, OPI will release a Shatter polish collection this May. The collection will include 3 previously released Shatter shades (Black, White, and Red) and 3 new shades (Blue, Turquoise, and Navy). OPI’s Spring collection (based around Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) will also include a Silver Shatter polish.

Black, White, Red, Blue, Turquoise, and Navy Shatter

I just bought Black Shatter yesterday and hope to test it out very soon… I’ve heard that the type and amount of crackle effect depends on how much you apply, what direction you apply it in, and how dry the polish underneath is, and it’s my goal to test all of these things and take lovely photos for you :)

I’m interested to see how people will use these shades for festive 4th of July manicures! I think my ideal would be all fingers with white polish/red shatter except the ring fingers, which would be royal blue with white shatter. Anyone care to try this out? I’m also curious to see how the shatters layer with each other… I have a feeling it will be a disaster but who knows? Somebody probably said that about chocolate and peanut butter and BOY were they wrong!

Opinions about the crackle/shatter trend are widely varying, and my own opinion has changed since I first saw them. Check back tomorrow for the first post in a new series called “He Said, She Said” where Edward and I comment on budding beauty trends.

Urban Decay is a brand that uses social networking to their advantage, especially when they release tidbits about upcoming releases to their fans. It’s such an easy way to make us feel included and best of all, it’s free!

UD uploaded these photos onto their Facebook yesterday, and considering how immensely popular their palettes are I thought you would be interested. Not all shades are shown in the pictures, which I hope means there will be some new shades! No word on pricing either, though the Show Pony palette (also with 6 shadows and a mini pencil) was $20.00.

Includes Stray Dog, SWF, Midnight Cowboy, Aquarius, Darkhorse, and Ecstasy

British Beauty Blogger sets the record straight on MAC Tartan Eyeshadows

A lot of readers and bloggers have been asking about whether the tartan striping on these beautiful shadows was an “overspray” or went all the way through the product.

It seems MAC sent out a press release claiming that the striping was throughout the product as as result of some new fiber technology, but others were claiming it did not.

Update: It was not in a press release, but rather in a conversation with a member of the press that this new technology was discussed.

British Beauty Blogger sorted it out by hacking open her shadow, and unfortunately the answer is that it is an overspray.

I know a lot of you had questions about this, so I hope this helps answer them. Thanks also to Temptalia for her help – check out review and photos of all the eyeshadows here.

I wrote about this last month, however things have been pretty silent since then. This particular version is a “professional size” and is limited edition for the holiday season. Expect to see the same tube packaging for smaller sizes in early 2011. Urban Decay just posted these pics on Twitter and Facebook

And remember… you read it here first :)
