Let’s start this story with a photo…
That right there is the eyeliner I’ve been using for almost a year. You see, I loved it, but the packaging pretty much refused to work on most occasions. Over the months I’ve pulled it open with everything from my teeth to actual pliers. I think when I got to the pliers I realized it was time to move on.
And I tried, I really did. I bought several similar liquid eyeliners, and all of them were miserable failures, more like a weak washable marker than the strong black felt-tip liner I was looking for.
And then I found it.
The answer to my embarrassing problem (what am I, a child? who uses their teeth to open things?!) is Milani Eye Tech Extreme Liquid Liner, released earlier this spring as a spinoff of the original Eye Tech liquid liner.
What’s so extreme about it? Well, it allows extreme precision in application. We’re talking razor-thin lines, if that’s what you want. If not, you can press a little harder to get a thicker line. What’s awesome is that the nib (the applicator part) is neither so firm it hurts to press nor so flaccid that you can’t get a controlled line… this is harder to achieve than you’d think!
In this photo the Eyeko liner looks a little darker, which may be true, but remember it’s had almost a year to dry out and become more concentrated. The Milani liner looks plenty black when applied, believe me.
And just for kicks and giggles, here’s how precise you can get:
Bottom Line
Milani Eye Tech Extreme Liquid Liner ($7.49) is a great little pen liner and I will definitely repurchase. It’s much easier to find than Eyeko, and the packaging opens with ease, no pliers required.
