I’m going to start this post with a bit of a disclaimer: these products arrived as a semi-surprise the day after my MAC rant post last week. How could it be a surprise? Let me explain. I’m on the MAC press email list. For the most part this just means I get collection information in an ‘official’ format, though accurate unofficial information is usually available online before I get anything in my email. Sometimes the press release email says that there are samples available, and if it’s something I’d like to review, I respond and say yes, please send a sample.
I’ve probably done this about 4 times in the last year and only once before has my request been granted. That time, I received 2 lipsticks out of a collection of about 10, so I expected the same situation if I received anything at all. Lo and behold, the day after I rip MAC a new one, I get a package with almost every shade of the Casual Colour pots. The two events were not related at all (I’m sure the package was shipped before I posted, and I really doubt anyone at MAC even read it).
Once they arrived, I spent a few hours deciding what to do. I had just posted about how frustrated I am with an overload of new MAC collections, but it felt dishonest to receive products on the premise of reviewing and then stick them in a drawer. I decided to take my time with reviewing, as promised, and post swatches in the meantime.
This is probably way too much information, but I felt the need to explain how only a week after ranting about MAC I am back to posting their limited edition products. Enough with the disclaimer; let’s get to the pretty!
