I’ve heard a lot of raves about this foundation over the years, so while I was in Sephora last week I decided to test it out. It looked great on my skin in the store and I almost bought it on-the-spot, however my shade (010 Ivory) was sold out. The salesgirl was nice enough to give me a generous sample pot instead.
Dior says this “hydrating” foundation will leave your skin “glowing”, however I found the finish to be semi-matte. I did like the coverage (medium), finish (airbrushed), and how well it built up. In fact, after 2 days of testing I was fairly sure I’d purchase.
The next morning I woke up to several small whiteheads on my left cheek (somewhere I don’t normally get blemishes). I attributed it to hormones and used the foundation again. The day after that I wake up with even more blemishes. Since the foundation sample was the only change to my makeup/skincare routine, I feel comfortable laying the blame there, especially since my skin cleared up when I went back to my old foundation.
I can’t say whether the foundation clogged my skin or whether some ingredient caused an allergic reaction… either way, it didn’t work for me. Just another reason why you should always get a sample of new foundation to test before purchasing.
