Ever since Polarbelle’s lovely guest post, I’ve been on the hunt for a dupe of Chanel Mimosa nail polish. The yellow looks much better on light skintones than I anticipated, but I still wasn’t willing to pay $25 for it.
I spotted L’Oreal Yellow Seahorse ($4.49) at Ulta and it was so, so close. It’s got the perfect tiny gold sparkles, but it lacks the opacity and lemony bite of Mimosa. I figured it was worth a shot to layer Yellow Seahorse over a sourpucker pale yellow, so I bought a mini bottle of Orly Lemonade ($3.99). China Glaze Lemon Fizz would also work well.
I think it turned out to be a good idea!!
Unfortunately I don’t have a comparison swatch of Mimosa… I did one at the mall yesterday and then lost the piece of tape it was on (durrr). From my memory, this is pretty darn close. British Beauty Blogger (who owns Mimosa) also said it’s “spot on.”
So, there you go! An easy way to get bright yellow nails for summer without busting your budget

WOW. Mixing those is such a great idea!
you are genius! xx
Aww you went through troubles to find a dupe, kudos
If it’s easier to find, Revlop (Top Speed) Electric is a dupe for Mimosa as well
Good work for finding that dupe! That bright pop of yellow is so cute on your fingers
Cool idea, I have lemonade so will have to pick up Seahorse too (seahorse = yellow? Who would’ve thought)… Love Mimosa but refuse to pay $42 NZD for it! Especially when we’re coming out of summer here
